RDAQ 2017

The 2017 annual Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ) conference in Townsville was a memorable event because it far exceeded my expectations. What made the RDAQ conference different from other conferences was that it involved and welcomed medical students as much as the doctors. The sessions that were provided in the conference ranged from the logistics of medical practice, enhancement in medical research and knowledge, increasing efficiency and communication skills and the impact of current affairs on medical practice. Even though the sessions were aimed at rural medical practice, the knowledge and skills that you learn can be applied to a wide variety of medical specialities.

The RDAQ conference weekend was far from all work and no play. There’s no secret that medical students party hard and when you get medical students from all the Queensland universities in one place there is no doubt that you are in for one hell of a fun weekend.

The conference is not just for students from a rural background. I have personally lived in big cities all my life and yet I found the conference very engaging, informative and helpful for my future endeavours. In a nutshell, the conference is a must for anyone who is interested in learning beyond classrooms, it is a great opportunity to network with doctors and medical students who will be our future colleagues and just remember that the doctors there want you to have just as much fun as you learn…if not more. The 2017 annual Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ) conference in Townsville was a memorable event because it far exceeded my expectations.
