SOLOMON ISLANDS PLACEMENT

One of BUSHFIRE's major aims for 2018 was setting up a Medical Placement Program. We have set up an annual placement opportunity for two second or third year medical students in the Solomon Islands. The students who are selected will excel in their clinical skills and demonstrate a strong interest in rural and remote medicine. We would like the placement to have a focus on public health initiatives, chronic disease management, acute emergency skills, mental health and indigenous health. Other areas that would be benefit to students is liaising with visiting specialists, drug and alcohol rehabilitation services, and sexual health clinics.
